ATAMÉ Skin CARE PRODUCTS- FREE OF ANY HARMFUL SUBSTANCES

Paraffins (or petroleum products) as well as silicones, are commonly referred to as kerosene, microcrystalline wax, mineral oil, ceresin, or dimethicone. Mineral oil and its byproducts serve as essential cutting fluids and lubricants in the industrial sectors. However, the use of highly concentrated mineral oils impairs the skin’s barrier function by creating a fat structure (film?) on it. The skin’s own moisture can be lost little by little when oxygen cannot penetrate through the skin and the accumulation of kerosene in the liver, kidneys, and lymph nodes can cause harm.

Parabens, called also the alkyl esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, are well-known to be used as preservatives in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food products due to their antimicrobial effect (e.g. in deodorants, they function as antimicrobial agents and combat perspiration).  British researchers found a build up of these chemicals in breast cancer patient tissue samples, resulting in significant findings through HPLC (High-performance liquid chromatography) analysis. Concerns were expressed regarding the possibility of parabens contributing to the development of breast cancer.

Animal testing on the final cosmetic products has been prohibited in Germany since 1998 and in the EU since 2004. However, it should be noted that according to REACH Regulation, any newly introduced chemical substances used as individual ingredients must undergo animal testing before being incorporated into finished products. Atamé does not conduct animal testing for the manufacture of its products. All of Atamé’s suppliers and partners have provided certification to confirm their adherence to this policy. To ensure quality control, our control laboratory, Dermatest, uses the Phenion 3D skin model.
